Surdas Painkra

Change In Life

Surdas was born bind and it brought much pain and sadness into the life of Surdas parents. He is from Kotanpani, Kansabel Block of jashpur district. Surdas parents usually migrate to nearby plaes whenever there is production of bricks (Brick Kiln). Surdas family find a great relief when RAHA team contact surdas and his parents and encouraged hm to go to school. As per surdas parents Mr. Budheshwar Sai Painkra nad Mrs. Vrindawati Bai the rest of the things happened very fast and my son was enrolled I the school in our own village. He learned to move about freely and manage his personal daily ativities by himself. It was such a relief to us. Today he goes to school with his friends and has become a lot independent. They are planning to take him for brick making where he will slowly learn to make bricks and become independent. .

Somaru Ram

Now I am self-dependent

Somaru ram was not blind by birth. But at the age of 5 he lost his eye sight due to Chickenpox. He leaves in Jamunda village in Jashpur District of Chhattisgarh. By birth he is very intelligent and hard working. He wants to study but nobody bothered for his education. Villagers and family behavior also change after some time, so he prefers to remain silent all the time. Even he never asks for food or anything to anyone. RAHA project staff contact him in 2010. Before 2010 he mange things somehow but after complete his training he is very good at Orientation & Mobility, Daily Leaving Skills, Identification etc. He always wants to stand with his own so after finish training he wishes to open Cycle Repair Shop. Which is very tough for every one specially our animators. But strong interest of Somaru Ram and dedication of RAHA animators towards community Somaru skilled in Cycle repairing, after taking few month training. Now he earn 6000-7500 every month. Family, friends and villagers are also happy. In 2013 he also use his voting right, but never disclose anyone to whom he vote. Now he having one more wish “he want to marry”. .

Narendra Kumar

Now I Can

Narendra belongs to Bhelwa Village, Farsabahar Block, Jashpur District of Chhattisgarh. He was enrolled in RAHA inclusive education programme in 2006 and was admitted to regular school. He appeared for class 07 examination I 2014. He is earnest in studies and want to become a teacher for the blind children. He likes to help friends who have difficulties in studies and also like to have many friends. By nature he is very shy and slowly he is improving his communication. .

Kumari Sushanti Toppo

I Love Singing & Dancing

By birth Sushanti was blind. He belongs to Rede village, Pathalgaon Block of Jashpur District. Her parents were distressed when regular schools didn’t admit her into the school. She was enrolled with RAHA inclusive education programmed in 2007 and started going to a regular school with other children. She is in orientation, mobility and daily living skills. She likes to study with other sighted children. She enjoys extracurricular activities specially singing and dancing. She actively participates in sports for blind children. She loves to become a teacher. .

I Can Support My Family

By birth jasmuddin was blind. At his early age he having same problem like all other blind people have. He belongs to bataikela village in Chhattisgarh Jashpur Dictrict. RAHA staff met him in 2012 and he is ready to be a part of RAHA CBR programme. Before join CBR programme he having little understanding of money, daily work or things which is directly associated to him. He always go for Namaz in Mosque and walk little bit in the society. After become part of CBR programme slowly he learn things very well. He understand the technique of free walking around their place. He developed his daily leaving skills very soon, he understand how to identify money. When his training finish he shows his interest to open a shop which is not very easy. After long and continuous effort of RAHA and his staff he has one petty shop in Bataikela Cowk and now complete self dependent.

Kumari Pushplata

Light Of Education in My Life

By birth Pushplata is blind. She is from Gharjiabathan, Pathalgaon block of Jashpur District. She is the youngest among five siblings an dher blindness was cause of much worry and anxiety to her parents. She was enrolled in school in 2006 with Inclusive educaton programme of RAHA. She is trained in orientation an dmobility, daily living skills and Braille System of education. She has appeared for class 07 in 2014. Her dream to become a teacher makes her study hard and with enthusiasm.

Ishwar Jogi

Thanks For Healping Hands

Ishwar lives 10 km from Pathalgaon a village called Dudungjor,His parents are daily wages workers and mother is house wife. They are very poor and uneducated. Ishwar is the first child in the family and he is the only child. He is suffering from Cerebral Palsy.Ishwar when first examined was 9 years old, his weight 18 Kg and height 120 CM. He is very thin build. Parents reported that he does not get sick often. He has a shaky body and no good neuro muscular coordination. There was drooling of saliva and he could not hold his head. He couldn’t walk, speak and eat by himself. Talked to them regarding the care of the child and offered support and help to care for the child. Child was visited 3 to 4 times a month for physiotherapy and parents were counseled and also taught them how to do exercise regularly at home. knee and ankle has improved and now he can sit and stand without support. He can move 20-25 steps without support though he has poor balance. His lower back weakness is improving slowly. Gait training continued. Hand is stronger than before. Drooling of saliva reduced remarkably. He eats by himself though some food falls down. He finds difficult to hold the glass to drink water. He is wearing cloths by himself. He can do all the daily activities with some help.

Kasis Satnami

Ican Walk WIth Your Support

She is 6 years old. Kasis lives 08 km from Pathalgaon a village called Illa. Kasis when first examined was 4 years and 6 months old, and just would lie on bed. Her body is shaky and has very poor neuro muscular coordination. Not able to understand communication. There was drooling of saliva and she could not hold her head. She gets common cold often. Parents look very helpless because kasis can’t walk, speak and eat on her own, as well as can’t go to toilet, bathe and wash. Passes urine and stool where she sits. Today she can sit without support. Hand is stronger than before. Knee and ankle joints are flexible now. Drooling of saliva stopped. Uncoordinated movements of neck and body have reduced. Before she used to walk with walker but now without walker she walks a few steps. She eats by herself but food spreads everywhere. She is on protein supplementary and brahmi tonic. Her weight now is 19 Kg (April, 2017). The neighbor’s children come to be with kasis and encourage her to respond to their conversation.
